We bought a new house, will move out of our current house and then will list this house. I'm trying to figure out what stuff to take with us to the new house and what stuff to keep at the house we'll need to sell. I kinds feel like the whole 'staging' thing seems to be a waste of time. When we were looking at houses, I don't think I would have been turned off to a place if there was stuff on the counters or magazines on the coffee tables.
So my question is: do you think staging affects people's choices in whether or not they like that house?
Also, would you think it was weird for some of the rooms to be nearly empty? Like, we obviously will move all the stuff that's in DS's room. I'm not going to buy another bed or crib just for the sake of staging....

I personally prefer an empty house, but you should ask a realtor. I think you should either have furniture in all rooms or none, not some here and there.

Agreed. I like empty, or super neat with zero clutter. Some rooms with furniture and some without would be distracting. I feel like you should move it all out and show an empty house, but ask a realtor.
