I have always had a hard time gaining weight. I was always underweight as a kid and teenager no matter how much I ate. As I got older, my stomach issues got worse. Around age 22, I went from my usual 90 lbs to 112 lbs(the weight gain was fairly quick). After my colonoscopy, I went back down to 107. After that, I started gaining weight again. Last November when I went to try on and purchase my wedding dress, I was almost 120. After that I started losing weight and tried harder not to eat foods that make my stomach issues worse. For awhile, I was hovering around 110-112 and within less than a month, I'm down to 104.
I am also losing quite a bit of hair as well.
How worried should I be?
If it matters, I never had my surgery to remove what they found during the colonoscopy or the biopsies done. I've also had abnormal bleeding and abnormally thick uterine lining as well. I've also been bruising easier than normal, but when I had my abnormal bleeding, they tested me to see if I was anemic, and I'm not.
I know I need to see a doctor anyways, especially to follow up on the abnormal bleeding and thick uterine lining(if the lining is still thick on my follow up ultrasound, they will be testing for cancer), but I have to wait for my insurance to confirm my eligibility before I can make anymore appointments.
Any suggestions on why I'm losing all this weight all of a sudden?
There could be any number of reasons. My first guess would be whatever they wanted to surgically remove following your colonoscopy. Why did you not have it removed?
I would also ask to have your thyroid levels tested, if you haven't had that done recently.

I could have written this post 6 years ago, why did you not do the surgery? It sounds like you are not absorbing your nutrients, at that was what happened in my case (crohns) so I was losing hair, anemic and couldn't gain weight. I got down to 87lbs pre surgery. I suggest going back and seeing a dr, if your we're unsure if the need for surgery seek a second opinion!
