Best Christmas ski town

DH and I are thinking about doing a Christmas ski trip (just the two of us). We've always done Winter Park, CO and want to try something new. Would love suggestions.

We're looking for:
1. Higher end lodgings (studio-style would be nice but perfectly happy with hotel room).
2. Great food
3. Spa
4. Shops
5. Some activities other than skiing would be nice
6. Ski in/ski out lodging (or at least not have to drive/shuttle to the lifts)
7. And obviously decent skiing

I think Vail/Beaver Creek fits all the criteria you listed but I'm not sure how the snow conditions will be at Christmas.

Aspen? It's higher end than Winter Park as a whole.

And do some serious snow dances to make sure CO doesn't end up with as terrible a snow year as this past year.

I'd agree. Vail is beautiful at Christmas. Some years snow is good by then, others it sucks. It's chance.

As far as travel distance - anywhere in the US is fine (within a couple hours drive of an airport). And price - we'd like to stay in the $600-$800 per night range though we know this could be a bit tough Christmas week.

Jackson Hole (specifically Teton Village)

#3 - Beaver Creek (not a lot to do outside of skiing unless you go into Vail)

I agree, Jackson Hole would be great, as would Tahoe--Squaw is better technical skiing but Northstar is more "posh."

The little village looke like a Christmas movie! It is about an hour from Montreal, and I am sure they would have snow - at least it looks like it!

Wow, that's a big budget. You can definitely stay in Vail xmas week for that. You might even be able to get ski in/out.

At that budget I would recommend Telluride.
Crested Butte is my favorite place.

Have you looked into New England? The Mount Washington Hotel in New Hampshire is beautiful although I'm not sure if it fits all of your criteria.
