Our renter moved out of the house, and we were there over the weekend checking things out. She had a rolling chair mat in the office that she left, and a picked it up to throw away only to find out she used a carpet mat on our original hardwoods and there are now hundreds of tiny holes 1/4-1/3 inch deep in the hardwoods . The office is only about 8x10, but the holes take up about 1/3 of the visible floor area.
DH met with one company for a quote to fix, and it's $850 which is their minimum charge. This is for 2 days of labor, and they will also be able to do some refinishing in the dining room and living room too since the area is so small.
Good price or shop around more? Do any of the Indy girls have specific companies they recommend? We've called about 7 places and only 1 has called back so far.
Can you elaborate on the scope of work (what are they quoting you for price per sq ft)? Are they replacing or refinishing the floors in the office? You can't just refinish part of a room without it being super noticeable, so sounds like they are doing the entire room.
The quote was for two days of labor and materials to refinish. The office (entire room) would not take much time on each of those days (the room is only 8x10 or so), so they said they can also refinish the living room and dining room for that price as well.
Refinish does not mean repair - repair of dents or sanding to remove the dents needs to be specified in the contract if that is what you are looking to accomplish. den, living room and dining room all for 850 is a low offer. Will it be oil or poly finish? Stained?

ugh - our renter f'ed up our wood floors too - didn't have her bed on a frame (just the box spring on the floor) and the staples in the bottom seriously messed up the floor.
We're meeting with a floor guy on Monday and got one over the phone estimate of $2500 for the whole house (approx 1,000 sq ft). I'm not 100% sure about the phone guy since he didn't actually SEE the damage...
