I watched the final episode with the 3 pilots the other day. I still can't believe Rodney and Damaris made it over Nikki and Stacy. I thought both their pilots sucked. I thought Russel's was pretty good and I hope he wins. Who are you voting for?

I wanted to like Damaris's pilot the most, but I didn't. She seemed unprofessional - kind of goofing around too much and touching that poor guy way too much. I thought her concept was cute and could be done well. I don't really like Russell's concept and I dislike Rodney in general. I told MH that if he wins I am going to say "Pie style, Jack" 20 times a day until he (my H) dies because we were making fun of how often Rodney said it during his pilot.
I had to laugh when Stacy pitched her concept of wanting to go in and fix a restaurant's dish and they said no way. Then both Rodney and Russell came in with the same pitches and they said sure, that's awesome. They twisted it a little bit, but that was still the original pitch.
I am annoyed that in order to vote online you have to go through facebook. Get out of my ass, Zuckerberg!
I totally agree on Pie Style! I told H if his show gets made, they should have a drinking game that goes along with it.
I thought Damaris's idea was okay, but she's WAY too much of a flirt and ditz to execute it well. I honestly was embarrassed, if I were the girlfriend I would have punched her out. She was way inappropriate with that guy.
I still wonder if the judges were surprised by how bad all the contestants were. I would love to know what Alton really thinks of them.
I like Damaris' concept, but I thought the pilot was not that good. Way too ditzy.
Rodney's pilot was annoying. I told my husband that we should have had a drinking game during it - a shot for everytime he said "pie style". We would have been drunk within the first minute of the pilot!

I thought I would like Russell's show but I actually thought it was the worst! He's using the restaurants as a vehicle to make whatever he wants. I thought the idea was to take their most decadent (the sorbet) and make it even more sinful. He was like "I'm going to make my favorite ice cream that is completely unrelated to what you make." As much as I hate Rodney, at least he actually followed the concept through.

I think Damaris will win--Food Network needs a nice Southern gal to replace Paula Deen. I'd guess they chose Rodney and Russell because it would be easier for her to beat them over Nikki and Stacey.

I like Russell, I really do, but I wouldn't watch his show. I liked Damaris's pilot best because I'm drawn more to the straight cooking shows, as opposed to the competition shows and things like "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." I would definitely engage in a Pie Style drinking game, but I would fear for my liver. I think Damaris will ultimately win.

Ugh I am not a fan of Russell, or his pilot. I get it, you add bourbo and bacon into EVERYTHING. Big fuggin deal. Your mohawk annoys me.
Demaris was my fav of who was left, but I agree that the pilot wasn't great. Also, this show was taped before the Paula Deen stuff went down, so I don't think they kept her around for the purpose of replacing Paula.
And, as much as I don't care for Rodney, I liked his concept and pilot best. I was surprised at myself, to be honest. PP is right, its Bobby Flay's Throw Down basically. But I still think he mumbles too dang much.
I want Damaris to win, although it was a little awkward. If a guy I was dating went on her show I'd be a little uncomfortable with all her flirting. I think without Paula Deen now, though, they can really make something out of her.
I like Russel and he makes the most awesome food, but he's still too weird/awkward for TV.
I can't believe Rodney is still there. WTF. And now he can tell everyone he almost won FNS. No. He needed to leave in week 2 or 3.
I'm so surprised that Nikki and Stacey are gone. But I've noticed a lot of shows won't allow there to be 2 (or 3) women in the end. I guess they think men won't watch. But the men were so weak this season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see either one of them end up with their own show, regardless. Maybe not on Food Network, but the Cooking Channel.
Did anyone watch the finale? Ugh, not happy with the winner. I will have to see the first show in the fall and see if they can train them to not be an idiot.

I'm glad Damaris won. With a little coaching and work, I think her show concept can come together and not look like a total flirt-fest. Rodney was TERRIBLE and Russell's POV I think was hard to convey.
And completely unrelated msmerymac - I see you are a fellow Bills fan!! DH and I are both huge fans. Do you live in the Buffalo area? We had season tickets last year, but with a baby coming we aren't doing them this year, but hope to at least make it to a couple home games.

I was born and raised in the area (Williamsville, then East Aurora), but, sadly, no more! I lived in Los Angeles for 10 years and I live in the Philly area now. But a girl I went to high school with is the president of the Buffalo Bills Backers of Philadelphia, so I hope to at least make it out to their home bar to watch a few games this year. LA had a fun Bills bar, too. Even my husband would have fun there, as long as he pretended he was a Bills fan (mostly because of the free wings at half time...).
We actually went to the Pats/Eagles pre season game on Friday because my husband is a Pats fan, and neither the Pats nor the Bills usually come to Philly. He doesn't want to find a Boston bar to watch the games at, though, because he claims most Patriots fans are Massholes. When people see us out on football Sundays in our shirts, mostly he gets a lot of crap and I get a lot of sympathy!
I'm actually glad Damaris won. When Russell was eliminated in the first half of the show, I was screaming, "NOT THE PIE GUY!" America can't be that dumb.

That's great that Philadelphia has its own Bills supporters! My dad was born and raised in the Philly area, so I was raised an Eagles fan and still root for them. But living in Upstate NY, of course you know it's Bills country and I've adopted them as my "local" team. As you know, it's hard being a Bills fan sometimes! DH was raised on the Bills and spent his life going to games with his dad, who was a season ticket holder for 30 years. So I say the Bills are my AFC team and the Eagles are my NFC team. I actually rooted for the Bills two seasons ago when they played the Eagles though, haha.
My boss is a Jets fan, so we always make a friendly bet at work each season. The loser of the first Jets-Bills game of the season has to wear the other team's jersey at work the next day. I've lost the past two seasons we've made the bet! This year is looking better, though!

Haha, since we're not super far from the Meadowlands, my husband and I are thinking about in the future trying to go to the Patriots-Jets game and the Bills-Jets game there every year so we can mutually hate on the Jets.
