first you have to iron the stupid thing. but don't touch that cheap middle part or it MELTS ON YOUR IRON.
then you get it on the box spring just so, but you still have to put the mattress on top. without messing it up.
the latter is clearly a two man job, but i decided it needed done rightthisminute. while i'm home alone. and thus i spent the better part of the last hour wrestling with this damn thing. but my guest bed is looking nice!
I'm sorry! They're so frustrating, that's for sure! But I'm lazy so I don't iron, I just spritz it with water & throw it in the dryer for a few minutes. Then I stand the mattress on its end agains the headboard, which is way less work than asking DH for help & having to do it "his way". ;-)
Ugh, I hate them too. I keep seeing the tutorial on Pinterest for upholstering your box spring, and I'm really tempted to do it over Christmas break this year, which is probably the only time I'll get to do it. I imagine changing the sheets would be so much less of a hassle without the bed skirt.
I also do the fitted sheet thing. And admittedly on a couple beds of my house..there's nothing. I just don't care that much if you all see my florally box spring pattern..the comforter covers most of it anyways.

I hate bed skirts. The day I got a new bed that didn't need one I was a very happy lady.
Ours was just a shade to long so I always used a few pins to pull it up in the middle and pinned it to the boxspring. That helped a lot in keeping it in place when putting the mattress back on.
Also get a fabric steamer. Much easier than an iron. I paid less than $40 for mine and use it often enough to justify a small spot in my storage closet for it.

I am actually procrastinating at putting the bedskirt on our bed for this very reason. It's just sitting there in a pile on R's dresser. I now wish we'd splurged on the fancy upholstered bedspring with feet that just looked like an awesome frame. But we didn't. So it's the iron for me. *sigh*
