I am freaking out. I downloaded more than 800 photos and videos from my phone to my computer yesterday, to a folder that syncs with Dropbox. The download went fine and I deleted everything from my phone. Today, the photos are all still there, but ALL THE VIDEOS ARE GONE. Like, every video I've taken of Kai since January. I organized by type and it was all JPEGS. I went onto Dropbox and hit "show deleted files," but that didn't work, so I guess they never synced with DB. I'm seriously in tears right now. Anyone have any suggestions?
You went phone to computer to dropbox? So at one point the files existed in three places? Then deleted from your phone. Are files deleted automatically from the folder on your computer? Do you know for sure that the videos transferred from phone to computer?
mala I don't think they every synced to DB, because if they had I think they'd show up in "deleted files." I think my computer ate them before they finished syncing. They showed up in the folder after the download. I don't know why they would delete automatically.
lolaburns everything dumped into the same folder. It all showed up in there last night, then the vids were gone when I opened it this morning.
katfco they didn't go into the downloads folder - just directly into the folder I keep photos in. I don't usually back them up since they auto sync to Dropbox (but I will from now on....)
mala I didn't have them in folders on the iphone - just in the "photos" thing. I also have a photostream, but it looks like that only adds photos, not videos. I plugged the phone in and it automatically downloaded to the last place where I had downloaded photos.
I looked in the recycle bin, and it has the photos that I deleted from that folder after the download, but no videos.
I am perplexed. How exactly did you make the transfer from your iPhone to your computer?
OMG Raynes you just saved me completely by accident. OMGOMG. I would make out with you right now if you were here. I had a couple of photos and one video on my phone, so I decided to download again so I could write down the exact steps I took for you. I plugged the phone into the USB port and Autoplay came up. I hit the icon for "Import pictures and videos using Windows Live Photo Gallery," then I hit "import." Well, strangely, it saved the photos in a normal folder, but I could only see the video in Windows live photo gallery. So I poked around, and there they were....all my videos. I have no idea why they're only in that particular program, but I am backing up immediately!!! If you ever want to make out with a lady, I'm here for you.
Thanks so much for your help guys, I was really in a panic. (heart)

Yayyyy!!! I'm so happy you found them. I lost all of my pictures once so I totally understand the gut wrenching feeling.
