I'm curious how comfortable people are with nudity in locker rooms. In college, I lost all shyness due to communal showers in the boathouse and a friend who would hold conversations with me standing there naked by our lockers. However, that was college and with mostly people I knew. Now I'm showering regularly at a gym near work and I have yet to see anyone naked and I kind of wonder if I'm making anyone uncomfortable by walking to the shower mostly naked.
We had an epic thread on TN about nudity in locker rooms a while back. The bottom line was that most of us were OK with it but a couple people thought nakedness in a locker room was somehow inappropriate.
Personally, I lost all modesty as a teenager because I was a competitive swimmer. I was starkers in a public locker room six days a week so I really didn't have the luxury of caring.

Please let's not start Gym Nudity Insanity again. This has been beaten to death. Don't attempt a moon landing or a low 2 with anyone and it's all good.
Normally, nudity in the locker room doesn't bother me. However, when I was there yesterday I was changing from gym clothes to my swimsuit and there was a couple of women in there with their boys - the youngest was 3ish but the older one had to be 8-9 years old! I thought that was completely inappropriate and I waited until they left to change. They took their sweet time too!
I'd have less of a problem with this if there were no family locker rooms, but there totally are! Just 1 door down. I'm considering complaining to management.

See, that's a different ball of wax and totally unacceptable. An 8yo boy can wait outside the locker room. I would have said something on the spot to the mom out of sheer irritation.

I've been wondering about this, too. I just started swimming at the natatorium last week, and I don't want other people to be uncomfortable, so I'm kind of concerned about being naked in a public locker/shower room. I don't want to be *that* girl, but if most of you think it's NBD, maybe I'll try it out.

That would bother me. The regular locker rooms at my gym are 18+ and out of high school.
I am uncomfortable being naked, but being around naked people for the most part doesn't bother me. As long as you don't sit down on the benches without bottoms on or a towel under you. +o(

I know some mom posted in last week's etiquette thread that even though her gym has family locker rooms, she's still bringing her son into the women's locker room and too bad so sad for anybody who doesn't like it.

How old is her child? I might be inclined to walk over to where they are, throw down my towel, and start unwrapping a tampon in a threatening manner. I might even plant one foot on the bench while I do this.

Not uncomfortable with nudity. I don't walk around naked but have no issue changing without a changing room unless someone's kids are there.`I don't care if others are naked.
I don't mind naked if the person is doing a quick change and uses a towel when they're walking around. However, when people stand in front of the mirror blow drying their hair, brushing teeth, etc. naked… wtf?
