I'm pretty sure this is my first AW... but had to share. Having a crappy day, things just a giant shitshow at work. Anyway, I go to see a patient that is currently in the hospital doing intensive rehab (physical rehab...not drugs!) after his 3rd or 4th knee surgery. He hasn't been able to bear weight on his right knee for about 10 years due to pain and recovery from all the surgeries. The physical therapist finally decided that maybe a knee brace would help him. So I saw the patient during his therapy session and fit him with a knee brace. The patient stood up and started taking steps - normal steps. He has not been able to walk without a walker, cane or crutches for 10 years.... until today. He started to tear up and said to me 'I haven't been able to bear weight or walk normally on this leg for 10 years. I've forgotten how it feels to walk on my right leg. Thank you. You changed my life today.' Definately made my crappy day a little less crappy.
