Hi ladies, We are trying to transfer funds from our US bank acct that does not have any relationship banks here in Australia. Are there any methods you can suggest besides wiring. We've been getting the runaround lately and need some answers soon
We've run into this problem here in Poland. DH works for an American company, but is based in an office here.. so he gets paid in USD to our US account, and then the only way we can get it to our bank here is to Moneygram is to ourselves (via my brother in the US, or DH when he travels back and forth).
It really is a huge pain in the ass and is not a desirable solution at all, but for us, it's the least expensive solution. The Moneygram fees are $10-ish/transaction versus the $40-something our bank in the US wants/transaction.
Last time I needed to transfer a large amour I went into my US bank and just filled out a paper to transfer. I needed my Aussie bank code and account number and stuff but it was really easy. I also transfer money back and forth through PayPal. DH and I each have a separate PayPal account. His is linked to our Aussie bank and mine to my US bank. We just transfer the money between each one and send it to the account we want. It doesn't charge us anything.
