My dad had a stroke two weekends ago. I had to make an emergency trip back to my home state. My dad had to have a second brain surgery to remove neurotic brain tissue. We weren't sure he was going to make it. He's on a ventilator, feeding tube, and a shit ton of other stuff. They are weaning him off the vent this week.
I'm staying at his apartment with my uncle and we are packing up his stuff and breaking the lease on his apartment and selling his vehicle.
My sister and I were granted temp guardianship so we can get his affairs in order.

My dad is an alcoholic so we are trying to set up an after care plan that will help him stay sober. He went through withdrawal this past week. At least he was sedated through the whole thing. He doesn't shake anymore.

My dog is doing well. He is having an extended stay at the vet school. I straight up told them I can't afford it and the doctor told them my story and what I was going through and it will be written off by the board except for his medications.

My check engine light was just a sensor.

My STBXH has been really understanding about me having to leave. And he has agreed to the property settlement agreement I wanted. I guess he looked into the cost of taking be to court and decided it would be cheaper to give me what I wanted.

Oh L. It sounds like although things have been rough they are heading in a much better direction.

I'm so glad O is doing better and that they are writing everything off!

Many prayers for your Dad and for you and your sister as well. That has got to be an incredibly difficult thing to be dealing with.

I am glad to hear things are finally starting to turn in a good direction for you. I know your situation still isn't where you want it, but it looks like it is turning around for you. I will continue T's & P's for you and your family.

Thanks guys. My boss has been fantastic about me taking off of work. And my "logic" is since all this shit has happened something really amazing is headed my way! I do ask that you all have at least living wills drawn up. Legal does them for free. And keep them updated!!! We had to pay a lawyer to petition the courts for guardianship/POAs and it has been a mess. My dad is involved with some super shady people and I think this whole ordeal has saved his life...if he doesn't die from it.

I think most bases do Wills free of charge as well. Watching my Dad go through a last care directive when he was really sick was terrible. I decided to get my shit together now when I am happy and healthy and update as needed.
