I'm guessing NJ Italian is "breaded meat/pasta smothered in tomato sauce" and doesn't involve a grill. This opinion was formed using Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and RHONJ as reference material.
Sibling A must fly 2 hours, rent a car, and drive 2 more hours to get to the location, as well as rent hotel rooms. Sibling A's children also must travel to get to the location, particularly one who must travel halfway around the world (whom B has not seen in probably 20 years).
Sibling B lives about a 45 minute drive from the location and has no children, so it will just be sibling B and spouse traveling for the evening.
I could tell that Sibling B was going to be the asshole after this.
However, I read everything including the updates and B is most definitely the asshole.
Side note... WTF is New Jersey Italian? Is Snookie the waitress?
First of all snookie is NOT fucking Italian! get that straight !!! 2ndly snookie is NOT from NJ~~~~ she is from NY!!!!
WTF is wrong with nj Italians? I don't know how many do you actually know?
As far as I can see there is nothing wrong with them at all...they are lovely, have great food, strong family dynamics...AND will rip you a new asshole of you piss them off

I am ashamed of you!
LOL, I'm assuming you cook real Italian and not the Olive Garden version.

Anything else you want to know about them?
This is lovely and all, but it begs the question. When it comes to food, what is the difference between Italian Italian and NJ Italian? Please school us.
PS NO ONE in here is dogging Jersey Italians. We love our Jersey Italians in here. Even if they are from NY. Ahem!

NJ Italian is the same as the rest of the "Americanized Italian places" which are found in ALL states!
In Italy there is no chicken parm....spaghetti and meatballs is not common....very few things are heavy sauced or fried. They eat a very healthy mediterranean diet. lots of grilled food, veggies, small portions, and very lightly sauced foods. Also add on that most food is fresh, never frozen. Pizza doesn't have cheese on it unless you order it that way... trying to think of anything else.
A lot of changes in the Americanized foods happened when they came to this country and had to adapt to what they could find here....and during the depression...what they could find (meatballs...became popular due to the cost)
It does help, Thank you. I am certain that my uncle just wanted steak and both places had steak on the menu, so... yeah... his excuse just doesn't even fly. Weirdo.

Now that you got my Italian up! lol
You've been waving your arms around like mad, haven't you?
mags, I should have been more clear. I took "NJ Italian" to mean the Americanized version that involves canned sauce. B could have said "CT Italian" and I would have associated it as the same thing.

As a full-blooded by marriage Italian, I am offended by your mention of canned sauce.
And to be clear- is B now going to miss the entire memorial over the restaurant issue?
This is what makes B the ahole, to me. The restaurant thing was obnoxious, but crapping out on your Mom's memorial service because of the menu? That's assholish.

does that help at all
Ah, thank you. I wasn't dogging on Italians, no matter what state they come from. I was asking about the difference between NJ Italian food and Italian Italian food, but Muddled already clarified that for me.
I knew there was a difference (although I didn't know the specifics) between Americanized Italian food and true Italian food. But when asshole B specified "NJ Italian" and not "Americanized Italian" it threw me off and I figured I was missing something.
FTR, since you asked, I only know one Italian from New Jersey. She's H's aunt and she'd slap me from here to Sicily if I actually asked "what is wrong with NJ Italians". I wouldn't do that. Her name is Gloria, she bedazzles her jeans, she doesn't take shit from anyone and the first time I met her she shoved calamari in my face and asked if I knew how to cook while simultaneously yelling at her husband to put on some pants. She makes a strong first impression, that one.
Now I want to go to Italy. No cheese on the pizza unless it's specifically ordered? O M G. Everyone here thinks I have some sort of problem when I order a pizza with no cheese.
H cleaned out the bathroom sink drain today and then sent me a picture of the crap (aka all the hair from his face) that was stuck in the pipe elbow. Does that help?
How long until you can eat actual food again? Do you have a first meal in mind?

That's terrifying. I am so sorry for you. I think I can eat dinner tonight. I told Boyfriend to bring me a minnimum of 3 burritos and 2 kinds of pasta when he comes to pick me up.
