I agree about adoption- however, not all states or countries will let single men adopt.
Which is of course totally ridiculous. I'm fine with this surrogate method too. Sounds fine to me! I think more people who really want kids should have them.
I really don't think that really wanting kids alone makes having kids a good idea or makes you a good parent. Lots of people who "really want kids" shouldn't be having them. Just read the baby gaga forums.

I really don't think Bunnybean came close to even implying that.
Even if I am incapable of carrying out a "mature adult relationship," that doesn't necessarily mean I'd be a bad parent. Maybe I just suck at relating with dudes but am awesome with kids and responsible.
Also, there are plenty of single people out there who would make way better parents than some of the couples I know.
It's a really narrow-minded stance to take to assume that hetero couples make the best parents. Some hetero couples are great parents, but some are shitty. Some gay couples are great parents, some shitty, and some single people great parents and some shitty. Being born a hetero and tricking someone into marrying you doesn't mean you'll be good at parenting.
Of course having two parents makes things easier but I can't fault anyone for wanting to become a parent but not meeting Mr./Ms. Right. Like someone above said, the desire to parent may not go away just because a partner hasn't been found yet.
Clarifying just a little bit here: having two parents who both want children and are committed to the care and upbringing of those children makes things easier. Two parents is not a recipe for automatic family success.
