So, I have never marketed my photography business other creating a blog and a FB page. And even then, I don't have a "logo". Well, I had one made about a year ago with the intent to make business cards, and while I like the design, I don't think it's what I want to build my business around.
So I am now on the search for a new logo. I can't decide which direction I want to go. I like shabby chic looks, they are soft and sweet, but are they over done? I feel like there are 1,303, 343,987 photographers with a shabby chic looking logo. Shouldn't I be more original?
I was thinking of doing something a little more retro, but still vintage looking. For whatever reason I think of it has a vintage baseball feel. Does that even make sense, LOL. I think I just like banners/flags.......kinda like this.....
Or should I go with something more modern and sleek?
Ugh, this is such a hard decision for me. I can't make up my mind, haha.
Please help steer me in a direction as to what "look" I want my business to take on. Or if anyone knows of an awesome logo I can use as inspiration, that would be appreciated too! Thanks!
I think you should assess your own style of photography and design a logo that reflects that. For my .02 (that's only worth about .01), I think your photography is clean, timeless, with a pop of bright, and therefore I wouldn't choose a shabby chic style for your logo and branding elements. When I think shabby chic, I imagine a lot of heavy processing/ textures/ et cetera, and from what I've seen, I don't think that's your style.
That said, I think you could go either vintage (but clean) or modern, or some combo thereof. Personally, I like the logo that you linked, though I don't that I would choose it for you, but I'm not sure why. Maybe because I expect a pop of color from you for some reason. (Probably because I follow your boards on pinterest, lol.)
Sometimes a color scheme is an easier starting point than a design element like a logo.
