Any specific recs for a Thai beach hotel/inn/resort? Looking for something romantic for a few days at the end of a longer trip through Thailand and Cambodia. I usually prefer smaller hotels to larger resorts, but am open to resorts geared toward adults.
The Vijitt Resort in Phuket was amazing. The beach wasn't so great, but they offered free shuttles to Patong, Nai Harn, Coral Island, and other places around the area. The breakfast that was included every morning was incredible and the pool more than made up for the not so awesome beach.
We literally just showed up in towns and found lodging when we were in Thailand and Cambodia...no reservations were ever made because I found it was better to check out the hotel before we exchanged money. Many times what you see on brochures don't match up with the the hotel really looks like.
I will say that this place, located in Koh Phangan was really nice, it included a private outdoor shower right above the crashing waves. I would say it was equivalent to about $65-$75 a night which is super expensive for Thailand, we were staying in hotels that were around $12-$15 only because we were poor college kids at the time. If you don't want to deal with partiers, don't go around a full moon or new moon.
