This may be a heath but I don't care. My friend sent me this article and I couldn't stop laughing.
A short excerpt - but really you should read the whole thing:
"A China zoo has been forced to apologise after it tried to pass off a dog as a lion. Angry visitors to the People's Park in Luohe, Henan province, complained when the 'African lion' started barking. Zoo staff said they had pretended the Tibetan mastiff was a lion because they could not afford the real thing, local media reported."
And now for what they tried to pass off as a lion:

Okay, I came in here prepared to tell you about the zoo in Lima, where I witnessed a lioness stalk a toddler. It was crouching and growling, and following the kid around the whole time with it's eyes/head, really ready to pounce. It was funny only because I believed the bars would hold, but it certainly made we wonder if the cats were fed enough and how long that lion was in captivity.
But then I read and saw the picture, and this beats it by far! How long did they try to get away with that? Why? Didn't people revolt?
DD asked if a large dog we saw today was a deer. She'd buy that was a lion. But then she's two. And petrified of lions so she wouldn't make eye contact for long.

When I was a kid, at the zoo in panama the elephant wasn't in an enclosure, just tied to a tree. This led to a kerfuffle when the elephant got loose and started wandering around.
