That said, this season was done with new producer/writers since Alan Ball left to do Banshee. When the show was first started, Ball intended to have the vamps 'come out of the coffin' and had themes similar to being gay in America. The show didn't follow much in the books, other than general characters, being in Bon Temps, etc. The intro tries to capture the general original themes.
The new producer said (at Comic-Com) that he felt the show strayed way too far off course the last couple seasons and this season was the wrap up of all of that. He said his intention was to get the show back on track with one main theme: humans vs. vamps. He said he wasn't going to kill off the weres and shifters we have come to love (ie. Alcide and Sam) since they are still human after all, but get the us vs. them part of show back. I think he did that pretty well given everything he needed to wrap up. I'm very interested to see how the 'friendly' vamps handle all of this...the new season is the return of the real True Blood. If done well, I could see a few good seasons left!
I'm so glad you said all of this. I was so tired of the werewolf/shifter story lines. I can't follow that much supernatural shit. Let me just need to know/understand vamps.
I loved season 1 and 2 and this season. I followed the other just because I was hoping it would turn around. I feel optimistic that it's going to go that direction again.

Me and you both! I have more hope for the upcoming season now, for sure. I was glad to see they followed through!

Something that crossed my mind, is what if Tara's mom tested positive for being a Hep-V carrier? That might just be my hopeful wishing that they kill Tara off.

as soon as she said she wanted her to feed off her that is what I said to DH- she's a carrier! and I really hope so. I hate Tara

I just thought it was odd that the pastors and churches were encouraging humans to ally with the healthy vamps. Weird.
I think that is a safety thing. Like, if you are in a monogamous relationship with a vamp, no other vamps can touch you or claim you. Keeps their town safe if all the people there are claimed. No reason for bad vamps to show up...
Kind of like a worst case scenario if you will. Good vamps live due to their relationship with a clean human and bad vamps die/get Hep V.
We could be the same person but I need bill in there somewhere. Like a bill Eric Sam Jason sandwich lol I'm practically drooling
I was super surprised to hear Jason's Australian accent way back when I love him so much more when he's southern
See Bill doesn't do it for me, like at all. I'd take Jessica any day though - hubba hubba. Or Alcide, of course.
I resemble Jessica in a small way (not her body lol) I'm a natural red head but I've gone blond I have her facial features If I were back to red we would look much more alike obv
Well good, I can have bill to myself Alcide doesn't do anything for me. Never has never will Like all brawn no brains He looks like he doesn't have much going on upstairs besides the effects of steroid usage lol

What's not clear to me is since it's widely known that the bottled true blood contains hep v, why the fuck are vamps still drinking it? Wouldn't all the ones from the captivity have died off by then?
I just don't understand why they keep drinking it. Maybe I missed something?
6 months have passed...I think Hep V has spread like diseases do for us now. Vamps drink each other's blood (or have sex) or whatever. Pass it to humans via the same methods. I think that is why vamps are out looking for humans to feed off of (crazy vamps or just general ones) since the true blood is bad. They don't have real food options left anymore, hence the Vamps vs. Humans theme returning.

Yes, yes...I understand the reasoning behind it, but the churches had been so anti-vamp up until then. I really question whether their motives are pure.

Alcide is absolutely number uno in my book. He looks so much like my DH, except DH was much shorter. I was so drooling in the scenes when he had his hair longish and that silver in his beard. Swoonville.
