Not pain in the bottom of my heel like with planters but pain up the back of my heel. Not quite up to my ankle. It hurts when I 1st start walking but gets better as I continue. It really hurts if I squeeze that area. Stretching it/flexing it hurts as well so I'm not sure if I should do that. Swimming seems to make it feel better.
Not looking for a diagnosis, ok I am. I will still make an appointment with my podiatrist but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
It isn't actually pain in my Achilles, it's lower almost the base of my heel but not the bottom. Still Achilles issues?
The Achilles attaches to the base of your heel. Anything from mid-calf to heel can be Achilles. When mine was inflamed, there was one time I was wearing sandals and the very bottom edge of my heel slammed down on the edge of the sandal and someone should've just stabbed a knife into my heel.
I fractured my calacaneus and had similar pain except it was more on the side of the heel.
F*ck. that's where it hurts. The inside side. Making an appointment....
It could be a lot of different things- so don't freak out too hard yet! But be sure to ask your doc about a possible fracture there. I had like 4 different diagnoses before they got to this- then I spent 2 1/2 months in a boot.
Does it hurt more at the beginning or the end of a run?
Sounds like Achilles. If it was a fracture it wouldn't hurt initially and then get a little better as you move, more the opposite pattern. Make sure you are stretching your gastroc and your soleus and ice regularly

Help? I don't know what those are or how to stretch them!
