We did that last October! Isn't it awesome? I could spend days wandering around the Munising area, with all of the trails and waterfalls and scenery! I was in Marquette in August about ten years ago on an 80 degree day and we went to the beach and Lake Superior was still so cold that you could maybe put your feet into it for about 30 seconds before you couldn't take it anymore.
Gorgeous! I did that once as a teen. The water was so rough that I nearly passed out in fear. Lol. There were people puking all around me. Glad you had a better experience!
DH and I are going to check them out next summer since he enjoyed our trip to the UP (Tequamenon Falls and the Soo Locks) this summer so much. He had never been before and now has decided that he loves the UP and the Northern LP.
Glad you enjoyed it! My parents were just there a couple days ago. They have a second home in the UP and go up to Pictured Rocks a couple times a year. They love it up there. Your pics are beautiful!
Yay!! The UP really is a beautiful place! Lake Superior can be pretty scary on the wrong day....but there is nothing like a sunset on Superior!
I am about 2.5 hours north of Grand Marais, the next time anyone comes up this way please let me know!! I would love to show you the wonderful things we have here, as well as get to meet some of you!

I went there last year, it was breathtaking. I love the UP, it's one of my favorite places ever! Being a MI girl, I'm partial to freshwater beaches even over the ocean.

I know we will be up your way next summer in July!
Not sure of the exact dates yet but know it will be the 2nd or 3rd week.
If there are other Nesties in the UP, maybe we can do a GTG!

That would be great!!! I am so far from most, GTG are something I wouldn't normally be able to do. Please remember I am here when you come, there is so much to see and do here, even if we weren't able to meet, I could give you pointers on some pretty out of the way things most don't know about!!

I love to see people enjoying the UP!!!
The plan right now is to take a week (Saturday to Saturday) and spend 2-3 nights in Charlevoix with my folks and then the rest of the time in the UP. 2 things on our must do list are Pictured Rocks and the Shipwreck Museum. Other than that, we would love suggestions!
Bond Falls in Paulding are a must see, and then you could stay and see the Paulding Light in the evening! This is a light that there is no explanation for, and some desperately want to believe it is aiens....whatever, it's still pretty cool to see.
If you can come any further north, Copper Harbor and Fort Wilkins is the best. You can take a boat tour of the light houses. And a place called Great Sand Bay. It is the most beautiful beach! There are tours of the underground copper mines, which are really pretty neat. I had never bothered before, but we took our kids a couple of summers ago, and it was much more interesting than I would have thought.

Now I am trying to figure out if you live near Houghton I probably have mentioned this before, but my H went to grad school at MTU, so I have driven that drive along 28 sooooo many times. I love the Houghton/Hancock area and the Keewenaw peninsula. I would love to spend more time there.
Michigan is hot right now. It seems like every blogger I read is travelling Michigan this summer. It's beautiful.
Well, you know that Michigan is where the cool kids hang out, right?
TBH, after Sleeping Bear Dunes got that Beautiful Places award a couple years ago I think people realized that Michigan isn't just Detroit and automobiles.

Born and raised in Hancock! It's funny, growing up, everyone can't wait to get out of here. As you get a little older and start having kids, you realize how lucky we are to be here! (remind me of that next February, huh?)

So jealous! I'll be sailing in Georgian Bay next week, but I haven't been out on Lake Superior in 10 years! I need to get back out there to show my husband. It's so beautiful.
