SS is definitely moving in with us. He wants and needs to start school this semester which started today. He hasn't even applied to the school yet. I am hoping we can get his transcripts in this week and he can get accepted and start taking classes in October for the accelerated sections. This also means that we are scrambling to figure out the car situation, the budget situation (hello tuition for two people) and the logistics of getting him moved down here. Oh, and there is that whole getting him on my insurance policy thing. We haven't even began to discuss what he is doing with his dog that hates everyone except him and has even nipped at him several times and is a long haired, shedding machine.
I start my classes tomorrow and I don't have my books or anything ready. I don't even know where on campus my class is located. (I have the building number, etc but I need to figure out the best place to park, etc.) I feel so unprepared for this semester it is driving me batty.
Oh and SS is a pescatarian (sp?) so I'm panicking about feeding him in a house of carnivores.
::breathes into a paper bag::
The good news is that we found out yesterday that our BFFs are finally pregnant after over a year of trying and it is almost my birthday.
Pescetarians are easy to feed! Keep fish in the freezer and just cook the meat separate from the rest of the dish or put some of the rest of the dish aside before adding meat.
This may not be a popular response but can he wait to apply until the spring semester? That way he can take a few months to work, save up a little for a car and you can all be settled into a routine before adding the additional stress of classes.

He needs to be full time ASAP so he can be on my medical insurance. Because he is 18, he is an adult and the only way he can be on my insurance is as a full time student.

You've got a lot on your plate right now - no wonder you're overwhelmed! Take one thing and a time, and I hope that it all goes smoothly. Good luck with your class!

I thought Obamacare fixed this?
Yah, really. I thought until he is 26 and living at home. Once you move out and/or are 27, then you are off.
Also, he's 18. How much of this is on HIS plate to figure out? You have your own semester to worry about.
Just because he is 18 doesn't mean that I won't help him figure out all of this craziness. Heck, I'm 30 and I still call my parents for advice from time to time.
If you are the US, he can remain on your plan until December 31st of the year he turns 26 pretty much no matter what. Married, unmarried, working, not working, student, not student, living with you or not living with you. Doesn't matter. Hope that helps.
One of the only exceptions still is if he is holding down a job that offers him insurance. Some insurance policies will no longer let him remain on your plan if that's the case.
H is an omnivore, as is pretty much everyone else I interact with regularly. I'm the only one who eats this way in my immediate family. You can adapt things pretty easily and I can send you some tips on this, if you'd like. I also have a TON of recipes I can send your way if you're interested. Just send me a PM.

And, yes. Those who say that you have until he's 26 to have him on your insurance are right. He doesn't need to be a student and he doesn't need to be living with you either.
Now, he would need to be added during open enrollment unless there is a qualifying event. (Was he dropped from another insurance?)
underwaterrhymes, that would be awesome! I love new recipes and we don't mind eating pescetarian I just need to get used to cooking some new staples and tossing in some red meat and chicken from time to time.
I am waiting to hear back from my HR to see about adding him on to our insurance. If we have to wait until January for enrollment, so be it. We will just try and convince his mom to keep him until then.
