Dude, I'm serious about the poetry night. I went to that from 5th grade throughout HS. My mom didn't like me writing poetry, so I snuck out of the house to go to poetry night. LOL.
My mom was a teacher, so we only had educational games on the computer. Oregon Trail and Lemmings were the standbys. I did have an obsession with a game called "Operation Weather Disaster" which was petty much the best game ever.
I remember Lemmings!! That was fun. I only ever had computers growing up, and I started gaming when I was really young with the Infocom text adventures on my commodore 64. I never finished them because I was about 10, but it was still fun.
I played all the Sierra Adventure games (Kinqs Quest, Space Quest, Gabriel Knight etc).
And this is the best website ever... www.gog.com It has tons of old games repackaged for modern computers. I think I replaced most of my old game collection with this stuff over Christmas.

I loved Lemmings too, I especially liked trapping them in pits or sending them off cliffs.

console (my first console was an N64): Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time (all-time favorite game), Super Smash Brothers. I also loved the original Pokemon and Link's Awakening on Gameboy.

OMG Lemmings was awesome! I had it on the PC though. We had an Atari when I was a kid, but once that bit the dust we never had any of the newer game consoles.
I mostly grew up on text adventures like Zork. Please tell me someone else remembers Zork. (My brother and I still quote from it, and I have a poster which references being eaten by a grue.)
I also played the early Sim games (SimLife is the first one I remember. Weird fascination with fruitflies).
Does anyone remember a game called Escape From Traal? It was mostly a text adventure, but had some pictures too. We had it on the Apple IIe and it was awesome!

So, on a whim, I just googled "Escape from Traal" because I swear I am the only person on the planet (aside from my brother) who actually remembers this game, and the ONLY hit I got was an old post OF MY OWN from 2008.
Sigh.
I'm beginning to wonder if I have the name wrong, but that's how both my brother and I remember it. We can't both be wrong, can we?

These responses makes me feel old.
I grew up gaming on a commodore 64: Mario Bros., Ghostbusters, Miner 2049er, Jumpman, The Bard's Tale, Castle Wolfenstein, Airwolf, Bagit Man, BC's Quest for Tires....
My whole family was obsessed with The Sims when I was in middle school! I still remember my sims' names. Ah, Jeff and Chelsea. I played a lot of Oregon Trail, too.
Oh man, so many console games! Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Legend of Zelda, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Tony Hawk Pro Skater (my brother and I put the song Blitzkrieg Bop on repeat the whole time we played), Mario Party (several of them), Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, and many more! I liked to watch my brother play Final Fantasy for the cut scenes, so I would draw in my sketchbook while he played, and pay attention when the story part came on, haha.
