I did a pretty strenuous (for me!) running workout on the treadmill. I ran for an hour and ever since I finished about an hour ago my chest/heart (I assume it's my heart) is hurting. Is this normal? I have myself convinced I'm having a heart attack...lol.
Do you normally work out, or was this totally out of the blue? If this is out of the blue, it could be muscular - your arms move a good deal when you run.
BUT - I would call your doctor to be safe. Don't mess around with chest pain.
Go to the doctor. I had something similar and it turned out to be Costochondritis. I got some celebrex and it went away. This type of pain is not normal and you need to be seen ASAP.
I have bursitis in both shoulders and in my left it extends into my chest, up my neck, upper back, and down my side. I've gone to the ER once and the urgent care once in 2 years for it thinking that I'm having a heart attack. Even though I felt silly, it gave me peace of mind and on the 2nd visit, I learned it was all muscle related and NOT a heart condition.
Go to the ER. Now. Don't wait these things out and don't feel silly for going in, they'd rather have you come in and it be nothing than to wait it out and it be something.
I have a heart condition that requires daily medication. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU GO TO A DR IMMEDIATELY. Even if it is nothing, it is worth your life to hear its nothing than for it to be something you could have prevented it.
UPDATE: I called and spoke with a triage nurse. Based on how I was describing the pain and how it hurts when I stretch and breathe in she doesn't think it's anything serious. She said you can hurt tissues in your chest when you are running fast (I was doing a speed workout) and it sounds like that is what it is. I did make an appointment for an hour away and she told me to cancel if I feel better after I sit and relax for a little bit.

You should be going to that appointment, irregardless. Don't mess around with chest pain, ever. Not worth it.
Thanks for the responses everyone! I went and it wasn't anything major--inflammation caused by pushing myself too hard or pulling a muscle or something. I even had an ekg and everything was fine
Glad to hear you are ok! Don't ever feel silly for going in for chest pain. Did they give you anything?
Thanks The doctor just said to take an anti-inflammatory daily until I feel better. I'll definitely tone it down a notch on the workouts for a bit too!
