I'm glad other people have ideas. My mom didn't know how to french braid (actually, she didn't really know how to braid either) when I was growing up. I bought a book at a book fair that explained how to do all sorts of hair styles when I was in elementary school and I taught myself how to braid, french braid and dutch braid (which I can only do on myself and have yet to figure out how to hold my hands to do it on my daughter). Once you get the hang of it they're pretty fast/easy to do. Good luck!

I did not until about a year ago. DD1 and I youtubed it and practiced on rapunzel dolls lol. It's not perfect but it's getting there. Still working on the braided headband look though.
I barely know how and just recently learned via YouTube videos. My daughter wouldn't let me practice on her, so I had to use her American Girl dolls. Now that I *kind of* know how to do it, my toddler won't sit still long enough for me to do one and my oldest daughter gets impatient with me.

It's cute and pretty good for a first attempt. It looks like she has really fine hair.
FWIW, my Mom could never do anything with my hair except for ponytails and barrettes. I would beg my Aunt Maureen to do my hair in french braids when we saw her in the summer. I still can't do a really decent one on my own head. My hair just stays down long and straight. If I ever have a daughter, I will probably disappoint myself with how I do her hair.
I learned from braiding manes and tails for horse shows. Damp hair helps. Looks like a great first attempt, I would try to center it a bit more which will help. Take small sections (never larger than the section you are joining with) from the side that you are working on with each pass. This will make it look less bumpy since the hair is being incorporated more evenly.

Uh, no. I can barely do my own damn hair. Lol. Poor DD. I did find YouTube tutorials very helpful and was able to French braid her hair successfully on a few occasions. It's been awhile now though, so I'd need a refresher.
Yes, but I haven't done it on anyone else in a long time. I usually French braid my hair for the gym, because it holds better than a regular pony tail.
