My kid wants to be the 11th Doctor for Halloween. I've been searching the usual commercial costume shops, but I can't find a child sized fez. Well, I did find one on Etsy, but it's part of an Aladdin costume and it's so small it has to be held on with a chin strap.
She's 4 and really small for her age. Do you think a regular adult sized fez would wind up falling over her eyes? Anyone know where I can find a kiddie one, or am I going to have to try to make one myself?
She wants me to dress up as one of the wooden dollies from the Night Terrors episode, but I'm really not that into Halloween or cosplay. I was thinking I'd stick to something simple like a Tardis scarf or something.
Anyone else already planning something geeky for Halloween?
Have you tried searching Pinterest? There are a number of tutorials and a pattern for a crochet fez that would be easy to size for your DD. If you go with an adult sized one you could always try to fold the back and pin it to make it smaller.
I feel your pain I'm making a sailor moon costum for my 1 1/2 yr old DD and finding solid red boots is just not happening. I'll probably end up making red leg warmers for her.

I really don't want to make one myself. DH broke my sewing machine and I can't knit so it's going to be a pain. I was really hoping there was some mythical kiddie fez shop somewhere that I just couldn't find.

The tutorial I posted could just as easily be assembled with a hot glue gun.

Seriously, just use felt and glue. :-) You could even get a small lampshade and just cover it with felt.

If I felt more secure in my sewing skills, I would offer. But I would worry about making it and it sucking so bad. I know they make heming tape that you can use an iron with. I have used it a few times and it holds pretty good. Glue gun would be a fast tool too.

This would be my approach. Some semi-firm cardboard shaped into a fez with felt glued on it.
We did something similar when we made our Monty Python costumes a few years ago. H went as The Black Knight. The "helmet" was cardboard with duct tape and spray painted. Let me see if I can dig up a photo.....
