(some context: in NYC, you're supposed to get on the front of the bus and get off on the back. Everybody breaks that rule, no biggie. As a matter of etiquette, you're also supposed to let anybody getting off the bus at either end off before getting on.)
So, this older white guy gets on the bus this morning in front of me while some black women are trying to get off. The driver asks him to step off to let them off. He gets loud and obnoxious, saying that this wouldn't be an issue if they had used the rear of the bus "like (they're) supposed to". One of the ladies, without missing a beat, says, "we stopped using the rear a long time ago." Awesome! How come I can never think of the exact right thing to say to jackasses in the moment?
Some ladies were getting off the front of the bus when
