Thinking about moving away from the clumping litter (all the chemicals/smells), but our cat suffers from UTIs and we need to know how many pees she has every day....
I LOVE the Breeze litterbox system. No dust or small particles, and the pieces are large and solid enough that only a couple make their way out of the box. You just scoop out the poop and the pee runs down onto a pee pad. I have 3 cats and only have to replace the pad weekly, and the pellets every 1.5-2 months. There is no odor except immediately after they poo. Some cats may not like the litter, and if your cat has loose stool it can be messy. But it is SO convenient for my trio!
However, if your cat tends to pee in the same place in the litterbox every time, it probably would be hard to tell how often they go
Another option might be Feline Pine litter- it is non-clumping but kind of falls apart when it gets wet so you can tell where they went. We use it in the shelter I volunteer in, it doesn't have any chemical smell and the cats all seem to like it.
