Traditional with a contemporary touch. The flared design of the light cover things make it look contemporary, but the design on the silver make it look traditional. I like it.
I agree with Fox. The shape of it is medieval, but I like that it's chrome which adds a contemporary touch. I personally tend to gravitate towards that shape...the round base with the up facing lights, so I really like it. Is that from the Federal collection?

Yes, federal collection. It's classified as contemporary/modern, but it just doesn't look totally contemporary to me.
I'd need to see the rest of the room. My initial thought is that it is NMS. But depending on what else it was supposed to go with, it could look nice in a particular setting.
It's still under construction. lol. But here's the latest pic I have.
Here's the light H and I agreed to put in the foyer:
Lighting Direct classifies it as traditional/classic.
I am considering chrome/stainless/nickel finish since the kitchen has stainless steel appliances. Refer to first image, at the back wall where there's a niche, we'll have a stainless steel viking vent hood on that wall (42" wide) that goes all the way to the ceiling. There will be cabinets on both sides which also go to the ceiling. Cabinets has a chocolate/brownish stain. The lights will center on the cabinets on each side of the vent hood.
What do you think of my reason for leaning towards chrome/stainless/nickel finish light above the island? Should I stick with bronze/ORB finish? All the other lights in the house will be bronze/ORB/black finish.
Two of them right next to each other? I think that's way too much. That is a piece that doesn't need to be in pairs. I would go with 3 large pendants over the island if you want more than one fixture but I'm also not a big fan of chandeliers over islands in general. I'd keep the chandeliers in the entry and dining room and mix it up in the kitchen.
I think you can go either way with the color. A silver color makes sense but I don't think an ORB would look bad either especially if something else in the room is ORB like the door hardware.
sbp.... Thanks for the recommendations. The last one looks cool to me. What's the name?
The foyer is not next to the kitchen. Where I took the picture is the family room. The 2-story foyer is on the right.
I've also been looking at pendant lights, but bigger ones (at least 15" diameter) since the island is 9.5 ft long. I think less than 10" would look out of place. The island is about 6 ft x 9.5 ft. The kitchen is around 15 ft x 18 ft.
Also, we only wired for 2 main lights above the island. I definitely want the 2 main lights to provide light for the entire kitchen 99% of the time. Other lights in the kitchen include, (4) 4" cans above the island, (6) 5" cans on the perimeter, inside cabinet lights (top 1/3 has glass panel), and undermount cabinet lighting.
