What age for Big Wheels, or similar ride-on toy?

DS has a ride-on toy that makes noise when he bounces on it, but he's really not into it. He uses it as a push toy. 

He's turning two in late November, and my mom mentioned getting him a Big Wheel for his birthday. I think he's too young (and don't have room to store it until he's old enough to use it). 

Thoughts?

DS got this Batman trike for his 2nd birthday back in April. At first he just scooted it around without using the peddles. Now he tries to peddle, but can't quite reach them yet (darn short legs, LOL). He loves it.

A Big Wheel would be too large. My 5 year old can ride one with plenty of room to grow.
