We're a day behind on shows, so I'm watching PLL tonight and not opening the thread until then, so forgive me if this is being discussed below.

What are your thoughts?  Anyone planning on watching?

I don't get the Caleb tie to the show.  They've never even shown him there (like Toby or Spencer).

I won't say much but I think i have an idea how Caleb will leave PLL and go to Ravenswood. Something in last night show that made me think of this possibility.

I thought I read somewhere that he is tied to the city by a dead relative or something.

I think I saw the same thing you're referring to.  Someone mentioned that the old timey photo they're showing in the previews looks like Caleb.

But even if this is true, it just feels like a deus ex machina stretch.  I mean, it feels like they're only including Caleb to draw PLL fans over.  Because there's no history of Caleb + Ravenswood in the show.  And I don't think that gives PLL fans a lot of credit.  The new show looks spooky and cool, and the fact it's the same creators as PLL already peaks my interest.

If they had Toby or Shana as the character, I'd buy it.  Heck, I could even buy a Cee Cee tie in potentially (depending on what happened on the finale).  But it just seems forced to create a tie-in to Caleb the very episode they're introducing the new show (which is how they're writing it - the Halloween episode will lead into the premiere of Ravenswood).  I mean, we knew the history of The Originals long before they announced the spinoff from Vampire Diaries.
