I'm thinking of getting rid of 75% of the toys the boys have. Some days, I feel like they act bored even though they have 1 million toys out. I'm not sure what I would get rid of though because they tend to play with most of them at some point during the day. Or they fight over the stupid toys I don't have duplicates of.
And actually, their favorite "toys" at the moment are my empty water bottles, Starbucks straws, and the tupperware from the tupperware drawer. I should really just get rid of all the toys.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Every time I put them away in the box, he takes them out but doesn't play with it. I'm seriously thinking about just putting them away for good.
Matilda never seems to play with toys unless there is another child over and then she will happily fight for any toy the other child wants.
I don't know if it is weird, she has no focus it seems. She would never just sit down alone in a room and play with something.
We don't have a lot of toys. The only thing she is interested in is the sand and water table outside and her bath toys. So I think we could get rid of the other toys we have but then I don't know. I already feel like when we go to other peoples houses they have SO many toys for their kid compared to us! But then maybe their kids actually play with toys.

We have too many.
We went through and sorted them last weekend. We have 2 boxes in storage that are great for infants but not toddlers and then some that Mel isn't quite up to yet (puzzles and games that were gifts). We have a huge garbage bag of toys and stuffed animals we're going to bring to the consignment shop. we also threw out a huge bag of broken/not reusable toys.
We still feel like there is too much and some if the toys are ones we hope she'll use but doesn't yet.
Have you tried rotating them? I pack away half of Ada's toys all the time, when I switch them and bring out the packed away ones she acts like they are new and awesome everytime! It also means I have half the junk to pick up at the end of the day.

I think I'll try that. I went through the toys about a month ago and gave away the infant toys but we have so many random toys still. Its time to purge and pack up
We have one toybox full. And a good chunk of the toys in there are regular objects she decided to play with so they've migrated to her toybox. A few things don't fit, like the ball, and her toy firehouse. She has some toys upstairs, but not enough to fill even a small toybox. That's it. We are not big on buying toys around here so most were secondhand or gifts.

You could always box them up and see how they do, then get rid of them when you feel more confident. Or figure a rotation schedule but just have less available.
We have a shitton of stuff, and I just make regular trips to the Charity Bin (let DS1 pick out toys to go) and give the baby ones to friends with new babies. I am CONSTANTLY getting stuff out of the house. The kids get so much stuff for birthdays and Christmas, it's just over the top.
Like you and PP, I also worry they get distracted too easily, their attention span suffers, with too many toys around. Also, I don't want them to become spoiled. We have a rule with DS1 that he only gets toys twice a year (b'day in May, and Christmas) and in between I only buy him clothes if he needs, and books. If he wants something else, he has to save up with his own money.
But yeah, definitely less is more when it comes to toys, IMO.

We dont have many at all. She doesnt really play with them. We purge every few months and dont really replace them. SHe is so into books right now that she'd be happy with a bin of books.
We have a lot more than I want, but it realistically isn't all that much. All of Sadie's stuff be carried in a two laundry baskets. Holden has too much, though.
We do have a lot, but I've packed up most of them to rotate out. It is frustrating though since we want more kids that I feel I can't get rid of the baby stuff. I'm dreading when we have 4 kids at different toy levels.
I think we actually need more, she has tons of stuffed animals. She likes to carry those, or sit with them and feed them her sippy. She loves her "tube" thing to crawl through. Other than that, she doesn't sit and play with her puzzles or blocks. She likes her balls, too.
