So...I got off the pill 6/2 because we would like to start TTC #2 in a few months (we would rather it didn't happen in the next month or two because of timing issues but we wouldn't be upset if it did). I bled from 6/6-6/11 and I wanted to chart/take OPTs to see if I was ovulating and when I would get back to a normal cycle.
I started taking dollar store OPKs starting CD10 and now its CD15 and still no positive. My chart just looks screwey (I didn't have the most reliable temping anyways because I had to wake up at different times last week and at several points wasn't able to get much sleep in).
I realize its normal not to ovulate right away after stopping BC but I'm just looking for some advice in general -like, are dollar stree OPKs accurate, is it possible I ovulated earlier than CD10 (it would think this would be very unlikely?), and am I just wasting my money at this point trying to use OPKs? If I felt more comfortable with temping I wouldn't be using them at least for the next couple months.
I had a 90 day anovulatory cycle right after I got off BCP. My chart was messed up like crazy. After that, I ovulated every cycle, though it was never on the same CD each month. I don't think I ever Oed before CD18, and it was more commonly around CD20-24 or later.
I don't know about Dollar Tree OPKs, but I used the Wondfos from Amazon and they were fine. I think OPKs are pretty hard to read--there's a lot of "is it darker or isn't it?" going on.
I'd probably just sit this cycle out while your body regulates post-BCP.
