These are somewhat weird questions to ask but I am curious and therefore will risk the eyerolls. If you knit, do you knit year round or do you knit only during cold weather season? Do you do it just whenever you decide to make something for yourself or as a gift to someone? I ask all these questions because I do knit a little, but right now it's simply a cold weather thing for me. I only think about doing it when it's cold outside. I would like to do more knitting so I'll get better and graduate beyond scarves and I think to do that I would need to go beyond just winter knitting. What do you ladies do?
I do more crochet, and I've gotten away from it lately since we've been working on the house, but when I do it it's usually either because I came across some pattern I loved and watned to make it for myself, or for a gift. And I do it in all seasons. Though I'm really unlikely to work on a giant blanket in the middle of the summer just because I don't want a giant blanket on my lap in 90 degree weather.

My MIL crochets all the time. Keeps her hands busy while she watches TV. I notice she does it more when the weather is cooler, probably because she doesn't the crap all over her lap when it's 100+ degrees out.
I knit year-round but I definitely knit more in the cooler months. I haven't picked up my needles in a few weeks due to some recent wrist issues and being so busy with the move.
I have a bad habit of starting a project for the season that's approaching-- for instance, this spring I started on a lightweight summer scarf that I probably won't finish until summer is over.
I'm an avid year round knitter. I tend to have several projects going at any given times- projects for myself tend to be longer term, spendy yarn and more complex patterns. At my age, I seem to always have friends expecting babies, so there's also a steady stream of baby sweaters in my project bin. Then if I happen to come by a particularly beautiful yarn by my dyer friends, I'll go with the inspiration and start up whatever project seems best.

Cold weather knitter here! I usually knit hats/scarves/mittens when I want something in particular that I can't find, or gifts. I'm just a novice and super slow, so I need a purpose (like my head's freezing LOL!) if I'm ever going to finish a project in a timely manner
I attempted to continue knitting/crocheting throughout the year but the little man likes to get tangled up in the yarn. Turkey. Plus, like someone else mentioned, I don't want a heavy, wool project sitting on my lap when it's 95 degrees outside. In the Summer/warmer months, I try to work more on toys than hats/scarves/the like.
Of course, motivation comes and goes. I love crocheting hats in the cooler months because my kid is so darned cute in them
