I ran the Indianapolis Women's half this morning, and PRed by 7:10 from my last half 4.5 months ago.
It was hot and humid even at the start, and I'm really proud that I listened to my body instead trying to push myself too hard. Around mile 4 I actually thought that I might dnf.
I signed up on a whim, but I'm so glad I ran this race because it was so well organized. They had wet washcloths at mile 8 (the sound i made when i was handed mine was borderline obsecene), and aid stations every mile to mile and a half. Plus the post race party was kickass. There were mimosas, Bloody Marys, beer, shrimp cocktail, and sandwiches in additional to the usual.
Along the course someone had a sign that said " The heat index today is somewhere between OMG and WTF", it made me really lol. All in all a good day.
You did awesome!! Congratulations for pushing through in the hot weather & setting a big PR! I agree that the post race party sounds awesome. The question being -- did you even feel like enjoying a mimosa at the end?

Great job!
P.S. I think your smile looks great in your pic.
I had two while I was waiting for my turn in the massage tent. What? I was hydrating.
zoidberg - you totally should. Plus Brit is the area.
Sounds awesome. And you look way too cute to have just run a half. After mine I looked like something you'd find dried up in the back corner of your garage.

OMG, have you never done mimosas post race?? They're awesome! My running club actually has a summer beach run/mimosas tradition. At the Surf City Marathon the first thing we did when we got back to our beach house was make a huge batch of mimosas. Our Chicago fridge will be stocked! Seriously, try it.
