Has anyone had any Achilles issues (such as tendonitis)? I've been going on a month of not being able to run due to my Achilles killing me...I'm resting, stretching my calf muscles and trying to strengthen other muscles (still lifting). Even when I walk distances, I get sore. Any suggestions?
I start PT on Wednesday. I've been to the doctor twice, and been using superfeet inserts that help while running, but the daily pain is too much to deal with. I hope PT fixes it.

I just posted about this recently! Sorry to hear you are having trouble. Did you go to the doctor yet? It took me too long to go! I rested about 2.5 weeks w/antiinflammatories and the pain got better, but as soon as I started running it came back. I went to an orthopedist and she cleared running, along with 6 sessions of pt including ultrasound therapy, antiinflammatories, and banned me from wearing high heels and flip flops. It's not worse but it's not better. She said the next step is a night boot.
The stretches pt gave me were wall stretches and stair drops(pretty easy to google w/achilles issues), and I am trying to ice and foam roll my calves more. That does help. I'd definitely go to a doctor though before it gets worse.

Thanks for the replies. I've been stretching my calves a lot and doing some rolling, but need to do more. Good to know about flip flops as I've been wearing them a lot (finally a warm summer in London). My GP told me to rest, ice and take ibuprofen for 2 weeks and then come back if it wasn't better. I'm going to give it one more week doing the above and then see how it feels...either okay or back to doc.
I had it this Spring. I opted to skip PT, b/c we were in the process of moving. I didn't have the time/childcare and I didn't think it would speed up recovery. I took 3 weeks off completely. Then, I eased back in and ran light mileage (and no speedwork, wah) for another 2-3 months. I iced often and foam rolled my calves a couple times daily. I'm working on getting back the strength and speed I lost right now, but my endurance and mileage is back to normal. I'd like to think I've nipped the tendonitis in the bud for now. Crossing fingers.
