I'm watching Dr Horrible for about the three zillionth time.

The other night at work, every time I wasn't consciously thinking about something else, I would suddenly realize that I was humming bits of it. My coworkers think I'm a little weird now. (Well, they always have.)

But seriously. Ever since I first saw this movie (how many years ago?) it has been one of my all-time favorites. It is perfection. I think everyone should watch it, repeatedly.

I used to sing the "Bad Horse" song to my DS and bounce him up and down when he was a baby. Screw lullabies! Have you listened to the commentary track? It's equally awesome.

I remember watching it for the first time in my acting conservatory. It's a great example about what you can do with no money but a whole lot of creativity. Everything they used (including locations) was donated and/or borrowed. The actors did it all for free too. The Asian girl that sings about Dr Hammer? That's Whedon's girlfriend and she wrote half the songs, along with acting in it. They filmed it in Whedon's hometown, which is how they got all the locations for free too.

Actually, if you're talking about Maurissa Tancharoen (sp?) -- (the fan club girl) she's JED Whedon's wife (Joss Whedon's brother, he plays one of the Bad Horse singers).  Jed Whedon is co-writer on some of Joss Whedon's stuff.  Maurissa is a writer and I think showrunner for the new SHIELD series?  She has a hilarious song on the commentary track on Dr. Horrible, and a great voice!  #whedongeek

I love the commentary track! I also heard (can't remember if it was there, or in the intro to one of the comic books) that they had originally envisioned Maurissa for the part of Penny but she declined it because she didn't think people wanted an Asian heroine.

Whoops!  I must have remembered incorrectly.  Thank you!  

Joss Whedon is married too, but his wife is an architect? I think.  She was co-producer on Much Ado About Nothing, but I think that's just because they filmed it at their house.  :-)

They're SUPPOSEDLY doing a sequel. It was on hold while Whedon did the Avengers. Hopefully they'll get cracking on it!
