Influencing the next generation of Sims fans

Last night my friend's 12 year old daughter was going on and on about Minecraft (which I know nothing about except what I read in a Time article) and a girl gamer's YouTube channel she loves. She said as a random aside "she does Sims videos too and I SOOO wish I could play the Sims" then kept on talking Minecraft. 

I recently dusted off my Sims 3 game thanks to nicbreeful and happened to find my Sims 2 discs in the process. After a quick explanation of the Woo Hoo function to mom and a check that it was cool, I installed Sims 2 on said 12 year old's computer this morning and she has spent the entire day playing. I figured you ladies and gent would appreciate this so I had to share. I'm just a casual Sims fan but it made me happy to pass the game on to her.

When I switched from Sims 1 to Sims 3, I put all of my Sims 1 stuff on Freecycle. A mom picked it up and said it was for her 11 year old daughter. I was so excited to introduce someone to the Sims that way.

All of these posts make me want to find my old Sims 2 stuff.
