We got the "snack group" list from preschool and DD is in the group with a few new kids and the kid who is developmentally behind. I saw it and thought "I guess they needed a social, smart kid to help the others adjust." Afterwards, I realized it could be the complete opposite. After all, these could be broken down into the "slow turtles v. faithful hounds v. speedy rabbits" a la kindergarten reading groups. That would definitely be how some people would have taken it.
Sometimes a delusional sense of self worth is helpful, lol.
Uh. You're calling another kid a "weak link"? Can you elaborate?
"Weak link" was tongue in cheek and sounds really cruel as I reread it. I didn't want to belabor the details in the OP but I should have chosen different words. I've edited to "developmentally behind" because there is no reason to perpetuate cruelness to a two year old. Thank you for calling me on it.
He is the youngest in the class and also developmentally far behind the other kids because he was a micro-preemie. Even though his birthday technically falls within the cut off, he is having trouble doing things the other kids mastered a year ago. In five years, it will even out. I fully expect him to flourish. Right now, however, he is still getting his bearings. If they are grouping by ability, then DD is in the group which needs a lot of extra help and outside therapy.
