Has all this progress made you feel better about your decision to do the growth hormone therapy?
one million percent better. the changes have been unreal. he is less fearful of things like big playground equipment, he is more confident, he is trying things he has never tried before, he is physically keeping up with kids his age better (being as strong as the other boys and as fast as the other boys) and he has been much more likely to stand up for himself with some of teh boys at church and the pool.
the psychological benefits have made it totally worth it...i am way past the idea that it is cosmetic and frivolous.
I hate to say, but I do think height matters to boys. OK, maybe not all, but I would say most. You see your child and he is perfect and beautiful in your own eyes and it is easy to not always see things from his perspective or really understand how he feels. I am so happy that his confidence is growing right along with his height and strength. Go, Jonah, go!
cleo, i agree. even more, i think it matters to men. dh is 5'3" and feels like people don't take him seriously, that it has hindered him professionally (because people don't take him seriously...everybody thinks they're the first to make teh "can you see over the pulpit?" joke), it has hindered him romantically (how many times do we hear women say that they could NEVER date somebody shorter than them), etc. it's a big deal for men. i don't think it's as important to women. "petite" women are way better than short men.
Oh definitely and when you were on the fence about doing this, I was hoping you would for all the reasons you listed above. To at least try because down the road, like it or not, it will matter to him.
And, I actually envied shorter, more petite women and how gaga guys always seemed to be with them.
