Did anyone see this video? It is teens terrorizing an elderly school bus monitor. What little Assholes, if that were my kid I honestly dont know what I would do but it would not look pretty.
WTF!?! I have no words. IF my child was involved, I just can't imagine, I really think I would have to take them somewhere to be in protective custody - from me!

These kids are animals. But the world is full of these kinds of people. I remember my year at a ghetto high school. The bullying was like this on the bus. I refused go back next year. It's sad what people do when they get a pack mentality.
My daughter tried to bully her sister once as part of a gang of kids in the neighborhood. I dragged her outside and made her apologize to her sister in front of her friends and state that it would not happen again.
I would do the same if it was a stranger. I would drag my child to where ever the bullied person can be found and make him/her apologize, profusely and abjectly. And woe to my child after that as well. Bullying is NOT acceptable nor should it ever be condoned or "explained away" by the parent of any of those children.
I think it's horrific...but what of her job? Isn't she the one to tell the kids to shut up and sit down? She seems to be not doing it...Maybe I don't know what a bus monitor does?
I couldn't watch it. I know I read somewhere that people today have higher IQs than they did 50 years ago, but they certainly aren't better behaved or have more common sense. Also, while I suppose that being born in '85 makes me a part of the Me Generation (is that it? I get all these generations confused) I absolutely cannot stand about 75% of people under 30.

kind of, but she can't force them to stop.
What could she do, really? Feed into it by yelling at them? There's a difference in stepping in on a kids behalf, rather than your own.
I wondered what the responsibilities were and did a quick google search. I don't know this school's specific duties, but most seemed to be getting kids on and off the bus safely, buckling them in if that is an option and making sure they are getting off at their stop. Some said that they were to report and reprimand, others said they could not discipline.
Whether it was in her job description or not, I think she was scared. I have to give her credit. If she even smacked that kids hand away that was touching her, you know she would have been the one in trouble.

I did bus duty for half of the past school year, for extra pay. The job is to keep the students sitting (so, not standing in the aisle), and to keep the volume down so they are not screaming and distracting the driver. Really the bus monitor has no power and is just there to document or testify when something happens, since the driver can't see the students. If a student really acted out the most I could do was turn their name into the office and hope administration cared. My bus students also saw me in the hallway as a teacher, so they weren't as "bad" as I imagine they would be to someone they only saw on the bus.
I couldn't watch this whole video, but from what I saw the kids were in their seats and were not screaming so I guess she was doing her job pretty well.

You can be highly intelligent and still be a horrible person without a soul.
No souls is right. I can't bring myself to actually watch but I trust it's bad from the description and judging by peoples' reactions. Where I live bus monitors have no disciplinary power, so I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case here. With teenagers, especially... it takes a very specific method of discipline. Have you ever tried yelling at a group of teenagers as someone with no particular authority over them? I have and it's not very effective. It can make it worse. Other than physically touching the kid (not allowed or appropriate in really any situation other than your own kid) there isn't really anything I am aware of that can MAKE teenagers behave the way you want them to.

I won't watch it, I am fighting tears listening to what happened. I did see she fund is up to 122k though and read "Greece Police say they are concerned for safety of students involved and may put officers outside their homes"
Those assholes should have thought about it before taping themselves being assholes then putting it up online like an asshole. Now public resources are going to be tied up protecting those assholes. I am not saying they deserve to be killed by irate citizens but come on, officers outside their homes?
THe worst part is that at one point they said "you dont have any family because they killed themselves because you are so ugly" or something like that. It turns out the monitor's oldest son actually had taken his own life.

I can't watch the video... just reading what they said to her and seeing a picture of her is enough to make me tear up. God help my child if she is EVER involved in something like this, she wouldn't see the light of day for about 100 years.
At least something positive is resulting from it. I hope she is able to retire after this.
