Has anyone else noticed how strange their sizing is for womens' t-shirts? Their largest size, a 2X, has a bust measurement of only 42". That means it's skin-tight on anyone who wears a 36C, and if you have a D-cup or larger you're pretty much out of luck. I was so irritated by this that I researched a little. Almost every other t-shirt place (Old Navy, Gap, etc.) has a chest measurement of 45" or bigger for an XL. That means a 2X (two sizes larger than an XL, since there's an XXL in between) at ThinkGeek is THREE INCHES SMALLER in the bust than an XL anywhere else. The average bra size for women is 34DD. That means the average woman won't even fit in the largest available size of their t-shirt.
Yes, I'm very irritated sending back the last t-shirt I ordered out of vain hope that it would magically fit and having to pay for return shipping AGAIN. They say that the t-shirts are stretchy, but I haven't found this to be the case, and even if they were, given that most have the pattern or wording right across the boobs that wouldn't be attractive.
I just want some Firefly and TARDIS t-shirts, dammit! It's so weird to me, it's almost like they're determined to perpetuate the "boobs are a giant mystery to geeks" stereotype, lol.
UPDATE: Ha, I just checked my email and I got a response back from their apparel buyer. It just said, "I promise, I am trying really hard to work on this!" Maybe we need an online petition -- Busty Geeks Unite! I bet if one of us took a picture we'd be the top story on CNN's homepage by tomorrow. We'll show you, Miley Cyrus!

This is very true. The shirt might as well say, so...here are my boobs...

I was so fired up about this this weekend I wrote them an email, lol. I'll let you guys know if I get a reply!
Overall, given that t-shirts are likely so much of their business, I'm surprised they do such a bad job with them. I got DH one with Serenity on the front and it is SO scratchy he can't even wear it. I don't know if they're dealing with third-party licensed sellers or what, but obviously that's not the case with the women's sizing, as it's all consistent.
I got a bunch of Wow shirts from Designed by Jinx tops and I LOVE THEM. I am a 34 DDD and the xl was perfect. They had the baby doll style, and i probably could go down in a size or two. they are super stretchy, and i wore them when i was 9 months pregnant and even after that, Wash and dry and they fit me again. I did buy them at Blizzcon 5 years ago, and they have held up great.

Thank you for this post. There are three or four shirts on ThinkGeek that I've been eyeing but haven't pulled the trigger on because of the ridiculous sizing. And yes, nearly every geek type shirt I've found has everything right on the boobs. I want something like this ( www.thinkgeek.com/product/11a8/ ) where the design is the entire front of the shirt.

I would totally sign a petition of this type! I'm a 36C and I always seem to resort to just buying unisex t-shirts because women's sizes never fit me right. I also have broad shoulders, which adds to the problem.
Check out ript, teefury and shirt.woot for good nerd shirts, but they're only available for one day (though you can get shirt woot shirts printed later for a slight markup).
I hate men t-shirts, they always end up to big in the shoulders and hips if my boobs fit. I end up looking like a square. I really like the baby doll style, but a lot of times they end up to short, I would love to see some tall size woman's. I don't want my belly hanging out, and I pretty sure no one wants to see it too.
