Had a great ultrasound. She is measuring ahead by about a week! Weight estimate after subtracting the standard lb is 5 lbs, awesome! Lots of fluid in there. Have not seen the perinatologist yet , so no plan at this point but wait and hope she stays in.
Dh brought in my laptop so i can entertain myself when he goes home.
I am worried i wont sleep well with the IV going and the constant monitors. Also miss mah precious snoogle. Bed too small for it. I'm sure I will adjust! Gonna miss dh and boop and chubbs
It sounds like you're getting good care! Can you sleep with ear plugs in? It might help. Sad about the snoogle. Maybe you can meet hubs out front or in a grassy area for a visit from the doggies? We smuggled my golden retriever in to see my grandpa in the nursing home a few weeks ago and it made his week.
Glad she is looking good! Hope you get comfy without your snuggle, I loved mine. Do they have you on a break away bed? Those are the worst, and if they are going to keep you there for a few weeks, ask for a recovery bed.

That's great! Have they talked about the steroid shots? If not, I would probably insist on it. I did a 3 week stint of hospital bedrest for my baby - the first few days are the worst, but then you adjust. Hope you make it a few more weeks!
thanks everyone i got my first steroid shot at 11:20 this morning, second tomorrow. Met with the NICU coordinator and she answered questions and talked to me about what to expect if baby arrives before 36 weeks.
my bed is haunted. It is a breakaway bed and if I shift my weight too much it shakes like a cheap motel vibrating bed. Gonna need to do something about that, lol.
L&D is hoppin tonight! 4 women all at 10cm ready to push, all with the same doctor! I am at the back of the unit so it's nice and quiet back here at least
the food isn't too bad, I had pizza for dinner with yummy white cake for dessert.
dh just left to go home to the pugs. As long as things stay the same he's going to go to work and then come over at dinner time. He has plenty of PTO but no sense in using it to sit around with me.
My doula is on vacation but called to check on me. I am kind of not sure about the whole birth thing now. A lot depends on if they induce me. Trying to just not think too much about that and will just go with the flow.
would love to hear breastfeeding success stories from moms of preemies!
I was a preemie, born 6 weeks early with pneumonia. . .I had a super rough start(pronounced dead twice, on a vent, full blood transfusion, kidney failure). I was in the NICU for 6 weeks, and my parents lived 50 minutes away from the hospital. My brother was 14 months when I was born, so Mom had her hands full. Anyway, once I was home, I was a breastfeeding pro(with formula supplement, as Mom's milk had dried up while I was in the NICU). I am not sure how old I was until I was EBF, but I went on to BFd for 12 months plus, and refused any bottles. That was in 1981.

I don't have a positive story, but I know tons of preemie moms who do. Most important (I think) is to start pumping right away. I know many preemie moms who started pumping and eventually switched to bf full-time. How big is your NiCU? We were at a big one and the NICU had 3 LCs. They were awesome. Definitely take advantage of them if possible.
My SIL had twins one day shy of 34 weeks, and (after 2-3 weeks of pumping before they could really suck and latch) she went on to nurse them both for a year. One of my BFFs had a 35 weaker who nursed without issue.
Sorry to hear you are stuck in the hospital Pugz. I know it is boring as hell. We will keep you entertained and definitely try to go outside at least once a day if they will let you. Ask them for a better bed and have DH bring your snoggle! Glad your baby girl is looking great!
My babies were born at 32w6d and spent 31 days in the NICU for feeding and growing. I also got the steroid shots. I wasn't ever able to get anything when I pumped but I didn't give it enough of an effort.

Glad to hear your little girl is hanging in there. I hope she cooks for a few more weeks!
My friend has pumped with a 31w preemie. Her LC had her waking up on a newborn schedule (every 2-3 hours) to pump to try and increase production. I hope you can get a consult with an LC and pumping works out for you.

Glad to hear you're doing well. I know lots of mom's who had preemies or late-term preemies, and went on to EBF. It's not easy, but it is doable.
Not sure if you saw my other post, but when I was on hospital bedrest, they had a program to allow your pets to be brought to the hospital to visit. Since then, I've heard that many other hospitals have similar programs, but they don't widely advertise it. It's worth asking about so you can see your sweet pugs.
thanks everyone I got a couple of decent stretches of sleep last night between vitals (every 2 hours). My temp spiked last night but is back down today so that's really good news. Now I only need vitals every 4 hours. I am getting a much comfier bed actually meant for sleeping in, not laboring in. Still leaking some.
I really like all my nurses so far and I'm getting used to the constant monitoring and IV. Doctor and perinatologist should be by this morning.
good thing I got here when I did, entire unit is full! yesterday they had 4 moms ready to push at the same time, all with the same doctor! 5 babies were born in 90 minutes!
