Only good news today! My temperature went up a bit last night but came right back down by morning so that is good. No signs of infection. My doctor came by this morning and is really pleased with the results on the ultrasound yesterday, especially the level of fluid. (the 22cm was the amount of fluid, NOT the length of the baby, I knew that didn't sound right!) He wants me on 3-4 more days of IV antibiotics but said it is feasible that if things stay good I may be able to go home on bedrest. I am not getting my hopes up but it would be really nice to be in my own bed, on my own couch, and with my PUGS!
I asked about possible causes of the leak. He said it could be a number of things. Having lots of amniotic fluid and pressure + an active baby can do it. They can't narrow down where the tear is but it's likely high up in my uterus or between membranes of the uterus. The fact that I am 90% effaced would not keep me from going home, lots of women walk around for weeks with that level of effacement. The number 1 concern is the leak and the risk of infection.
Great update! Hope she stays a bit longer. And although this wasn't your plan, try to enjoy the pampering I loved my hospital stay and would have stay another few days if I could have.
had a great night's sleep! Doc just came by and said he feels guilty for keeping me here and that I may just get home yet Waiting on some labs. Today is day 3 of IV antibiotics and tomorrow I should switch to oral antibiotics. Baby girl is doing great, no contractions, not much leaking. He also took me off of continuous monitoring! So I only need to wear them for one hour every 8 at this point, this is a huge improvement, means, I can change positions in bed without having to get readjusted every time!
That all sounds good, Pugz - here's hoping you and Gretchen (one of my favorite names, BTW) are home for a few more weeks of relaxing soon (BEFORE she makes her grand entrance!)
