I haven't watched this season yet. (DH is deployed, I'm waiting for him so we can watch together). I would love for Fry and Leela to get married. They are just too perfect together! ::looks at avatar::
And let me just say, FUTURAMA CAN'T BE OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I refuse to believe it.
There may have been a tear shed during this episode.
I felt pretty warm and fuzzy at the ending ... no tears like the end of "Game of Tones," or full-on sobs like "Jurassic Bark," but I was on the brink. It was a really satisfying ending.
I was surprised that Leela answered Fry's question about "going around again" at the end ... I thought they might've just been ambiguous and had her say nothing, so that we could interpret for ourselves whether they went with the Professor or if they were satisfied with the life they had together (which is where I thought they were going with it when the Professor said that the wouldn't retain any of the memories). But this also leaves the door open for yet another resurrection, if another network picks it up.

We just watched it last night. I thought it was a really solid episode, but I think Devil's Hands was a better series finale. Anyone else notice that the writer's really seem to like chopping off the characters hands? Devil's Hands, Bender's Big Score, A Farewell to Arms, the clam in this episode, and I think there's one other instance I'm forgetting.

I never thought of that, but you're right. I wonder if it's just a coincidence or if it's got some kind of hidden meaning.
Zoidberg chopped off Fry's arm in "Why Must I Be A Crustacean In Love?" And Bender's arms have fallen off a few times.
Agreed that "Devil's Hands" was better. But I was really satisfied with "Meanwhile."
I didn't get too sad when I watched it as it aired, but I went back to my DVR yesterday to see the scene at the Eiffel Tower (it's a list of places for them to have sex, right? I thought it was just a list of places to visit, but MH pointed out that a lot of the entries said "On top of XYZ") and I got a little teary while they were on their long, long honeymoon. The part that really got to me was when the time portal opened up and Old Leela jumped in front of Old Fry and said, "I'll protect you!" and then sort of fell over and Fry bent down to help her up.
That scene with the individual snowflake was really well-done. It's cool to see how far the animation quality has come since Season 1.
ETA: I still don't quite get how the Professor disappeared when he exited the shelter and Leela pressed the button, but how Bender and the others were OK when they ran outside to get Fry to fall on Bender's air bag.
It was sweet, and a good ending. I hate that it has to end, but it had (several) good runs and I've always got the DVDs to watch, lol. It wasn't my favorite episode (that's probably Devil's Hands) but it was nice and satisfying.
