Hello all, coming over from the old board. My username was MrsA1210. The big switch happened while I was away, and I missed this board but I'm just now joining because I was lazy
Travel-related, recently got home from visiting Italy (Milan and Venice) and the Greek islands. Next up is Outer Banks next weekend and Boston in August. We're talking about doing Hawaii with my in laws in the spring, and I know there's a bunch of Hawaii experts on here so I'll be keeping an eye out for those threads.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
Thanks everyone. I will eventually do a trip report, but to answer the last question, I can't say I got an in depth feel of the political climate in Greece. The trip was one week of pretty intense sightseeing in Milan and Venice followed by weeklong island cruise, and with the exception of visiting some ruins and a winery one day, we spent most of the time eating and drinking (with some shopping). The islands were breathtaking, but I did not hear much buzz about anything - I'm sure the mainland and less touristy parts would have been fascinating.
