LOL. Just my two cents but even if the course is very rudimentary I'm making my H take it with me because he has never changed a single diaper in his life, much less fed a baby or anything so he could use a crash course. Hope you like it.
I took the birthing, baby, parenting classes with DH just for fun.
We did too. I wouldn't say that they were very helpful from a practical standpoint (some things you just have to get the hang of through trial and error and experience over time) but they were effective in somewhat calming my nerves at the time so I guess I would say they were useful.
Also, even if most people attending are there for legal reasons, that doesn't mean you won't end up learning anything or benefiting from the classes.

My mom has a masters in counseling, but she's spent her career working with parents on parenting issues. For years she taught parenting classes, and most of the people who took them were there because they were court ordered to take a parenting class.
Most of the time it's a prerequisite for regaining custody of your children after you've lost custody for some reason (usually drug use), but there are other reasons a judge might order a parent to take parenting classes.
My mom also at one point taught classes in a home for teenage mothers. It was part of the program in that particular home that the girls had to take a parenting class.
I'm guessing that the fact that these classes stipulate that they don't meet the legal requirements means that they're aimed more at people like you :-)
