Friday: I went to HH with the ladies from my office. Afterwards I drove to A's and waited for her to get home from work. We went to a late night HH so A could get some dinner. While we were there she told me that she found out 20 minutes before her shift was to end that she was going to have the weekend off after all. It was an unexpected surprise but at a much needed time for us.
Saturday: We slept in, had brunch and then sat on the couch pondering what we should do with our unexpected time together. The weather was beautiful so after discussing walks we could do I suggested a favorite park in the city located on the water. A had not been there and it was a great day to go. We walked the trail to the beach and sat on the rocks near a lighthouse to see the sunset over some clouds and the Olympic Mtns. Afterwards we grabbed dinner and beers at a brewery new to us.
Sunday: We had brunch at a place on the water near A's place. We talked about my concerns with the stress from our trip and A and E getting along. She was open and receptive and we talked through some scenarios of getting through the struggles. She's committed to us and I left with renewed faith in us and where we are going. I spent the evening running errands, mowing the yard, doing laundry and some cooking.
I didn't get much done at home, but it was a great weekend of reconnecting with A and I was so glad for the opportunity.
The weather here only feels like fall at night. It's been quite the amazing summer here. We are supposed to be in the 80s for much of this week, pushing 90 on Wednesday which is just crazy!
It is fallish today (well, at 7;30am - the last time I was outside today!) But tomorrow and Wed it is supposed to be 90+. Then high of 70 on Sat. Finicky fall weather.
Friday - Met L and the kids for dinner at Red Robin.
Saturday - I had to work 8a-4p. L took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese to use leftover tokens from a year ago and to lunch while I had the working day from hell. L dropped the kids off at parents night out and then we met for dinner. Had a great meal sitting outside and good conversation. After dinner, we went for a leisurely shopping trip at Wegmans. She went to pick up the kids and I went home to put the groceries away and had a chance to chat with a friend. Carter wanted to watch football (his new obsession) so we did that for a bit before they went to bed.
Sunday - got up late (after 8y, my body is finally allowing me to sleep past 7am!) and had to rush to church. We tried a new church and really liked it - but between the service, the newcomers brunch, and filling out 1001 forms for the religious education classes, we didn't get out of there till nearly noon despite going to the 9am service. Went for burgers for lunch, to Target, and Sweet Frog. The boys played their new Madden game while L took a nap and I read. We were supposed to work on the household budget, but by the time we all got moving, it was time to start dinner, pack lunches, do laundry, make cookies with the kids, and get ready for the week. Ended the weekend with a Wii dance tournament.

Mine was crazy. It was my wife's birthday weekend and we had a surprise visit from her cousin's family on Friday, a party on Saturday that went until after 3am, and brunch with her parents/sis/sis's GF on Sunday. To top it off my mom has been in the hospital since Friday, so I was totally stressed out worrying about her. She had surgery yesterday (twice) and will hopefully be going home today or tomorrow.
