Hello all.
I'm going on a cruise this October and the last stop is Barcelona.
I'll need a transfer from the cruise ship to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport. Is it easy to navigate Barcelona on your own? Are the taxis expensive? Should I just book the transfers through the cruise ship?
Also, do you guys have recommendations on which area to stay? I would like to book a hotel close to many of the sights and I'm probably going to take the HOHO bus to see most of the sights.
I just got back from a cruise that ended in Barcelona.
We took a taxi from the port to the hotel (there are a bunch of taxis waiting at the port once you disembark the ship, so no need to book in advance) and it was about €20 on a Sunday morning. I think it took 10-15 minutes door to door.
We stayed here after the cruise and it's walking distance to a lot of stuff. I really liked the area. The hotel is nothing special, but it was clean, comfy and centrally located.
We rented an apartment when I was there, so I can't help on that, but we used Aerobus to get from the airport to Las Ramblas for $9.75EU/person round trip
What's your budget? We stayed at Renaissance on Pau Claris, which is around Passeig De Gracia. It's pretty centralized, and will likely cost 15 euros for cab fare. You can also take the metro at 2euro/pp or just walk it, if you so inclined. We Pricelined it for $150/night.
We stayed at www.marinaviewbcn.com, we could see the cruise ships from out window. I imagine it would be a $5-$10 cab ride or you could walk if you wanted.

I would stay near Las Ramblas because there's always a lot of activity on the street and it's walkable to many attractions. We stayed at Le Meridien on SPG points when we went.
