He usually goes out in the morning, when H gets home from work and before bed- those are the definites. Sometimes we also take him out in the afternoon (I take him while L naps) and an extra time in the evening for a longer walk.
They get two walks during the day, one first thing in the morning and one in the evening.
Quick trips just to go to the bathroom are more frequent because our neighbor who we have gotten to know really well offers to take them out in the afternoon when she takes her dog out. Then we do one last potty trip before bed, so they're out maybe 5 times a day?
We are also only 10 minutes from a dog park so we like to walk down on weekends and let them run for awhile.
We moved a few months ago, but had a boxer in a apt and then two boxers in a townhouse for 6 years.
First thing in the morning- I would try to do a walk most mornings. Really, for me and them. But, if I didn't do a real walk, I'd still take them out on leash.
Quick pee break right as I was leaving.
30 min walk with dog walker between 11-1 depending on when she came.
Out either for a quick walk or just on leash to potty when I came home.
Out before bed.
They typically went out more on weekends because we were there to take them and they are annoying. They would sleep the whole day while we were at work but if I tried to drink coffee and watch Meet the Press? Nope! Must. Pee. Now!!'

Miranda will tell us if she has to pee. Camote, in the past, will not, so you sorta have to watch her body language. Also, she has been at my parent's house for the last month, and they have a dog door. So she can come and go as she pleases (but thankfully she adapted to that rather well, and after the first couple of days, did not have any accidents).
I'm trying to figure out if I am torturing my dogs by only taking them out three times a day, one of which is a walk, normally in the mid/late afternoons (although this will probably change to morning once I start working), but the other two are just bathroom breaks.

We have a yard, but no fence, so we still have to take her out on a leash. She never lets us know when she has to go, so we have a set schedule for weekdays. 7:00 (when I get up for work), 12:00 (I go home for lunch-if I can't make it home, we skip this one), 5:00 (when I get home from work), and 11:00 (before I go to bed). We try to stick to a similar schedule on weekends, but depending on what we are doing, she may go out more or at different times.
She goes out 3x /day: first thing in the morning, after work and before bed. Two of those times are usually just quick walks around the block to her favorite spot, and once a day is to the dog park or enclosed tennis court to run and play.
Hey love! 3 walks a day in NYC is good! For real. My dogs get 2 walks at the same time each day and an additional walk if they start doing what I call their "poop dance", which is basically just letting me know they have to go potty.
Don't worry though.. this new environment is still new to them. I'm guessing they aren't used to the noises, the sidewalks, the concrete, the people.. So it's throwing them off. Keep on with the schedule that you want them at (as it's a good, reasonable schedule) and they *will* adjust, I promise. It took about 6 to 8 weeks for my dogs to adjust from an open backyard to a leashed walk on concrete. But they did adjust and are fantastic NYC dogs.
They are used to apartment living, but in Lima, we had this huge grassy area across the street from our house. Miranda is snotty and prefer to pee on the grass. Camote on the other hand will pee/poop anywhere she sees fit (which is usually in the middle of the road for whatever reason).
Around 7 when I got up for work to pee, 9 before H leaves for work to poop, sometime between 1 and 3 we do a few laps around the buidling (we used to go for longer walks in the evening but with the heat all summer and me being pregnant this is the best I can give her for now.) And then H takes her out before he goes to bed. So at least 4 times, if she needs to go more she lets me know. We also usually take her to my parents on the weekends so she gets a chance to run around a yard and play for a while without being restrained to a leash.

When we lived in an apartment we got out typically 3 times a day just to go to the bathroom (first thing in the morning, after work, before bed) and then 2 times a day for longer walks (morning and evening). The weekends were usually a little less scheduled, we might go hiking and that would be his only long walk or we would go for an extra walk around the neighborhood on nice days.
