I have been taking diclectin for m/s and doing much better. But morning still catches me off guard. Get up. Go to the bathroom. Smell the cat litter. Puke. Come downstairs. Smell cat food. Puke.
Now I am on the couch waiting to feel good enough to eat breakfast. Cats are evil. Canned cat food is evil.
H and the girls do the feedings. But the smell is so strong that just walking in the kitchen is enough to make me run to the bathroom. And the litters are in our giant laundry room/ bathroom. I think I need to start the fan before walking in. Or something...
I can't stand the smell of coffee right now, which is awesome as it permeates the entire house. I also have to hold my breath to open the fridge in the mornings.
Ugh, I remember this. When I cooked dinner I would get all ingredients out at once to minimize the overwhelming urge to puke that I would get from opening the fridge. That and the smell of raw meats would make me gag.
For me I was fine with my first, no sickness at all. The second I was permanently nauseous but no actual vomiting. The third I was throwing up every single day until 14 weeks. This is part of the reason I question one more, what if it gets worse?
What evolutionary purpose does morning sickness serve, anyway? Shouldn't we be eating things to help our babies grow? I wonder if other mammals get morning sickness...
Thanks, Darwin!
I hope you all feel better soon. I was so sick with both of my kids and it's one of the worst feelings ever.

I had some morning sickness with my first, but nothing bad- lost about 10 lbs. With my second I had hyperemesis and was hospitalized three times for dehydration. From what I understand, it does get worse with each pregnancy. Even if we had wanted a third, there's no way I would go through with another pregnancy. Maybe I was being dramatic, but I thought I was going to die and was getting very depressed.
Interesting about it getting worse with each pregnancy. I was ready to puke 24/7 with Leo and it last until like week 16. Smells were terrible. the thought of smelling something made me want to hurl. I walked around with a club soda in my hand all the time to try to stop the gagging. With Jack I just got the hangries.

before refrigeration and clean water and sanitation (so like 100 years ago) basically everything you ate was some kind of spoiled or rotten. morning sickness is possibly the body's way of preventing you from eating shit that could harm the fetus.
