I am making a turkey meatloaf. Along with the ground turkey, you mix in breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, tomato paste, onion, garlic, some seasonings, egg, etc. Apparently, what I thought were breadcrumbs in my cupboard were not. I've already started, and the kids are down asleep so I can't get to the store. Would you substitute in oats or bulgur wheat? I've seen recipes that call for oats before, but for some reason they seem really big in comparison to the breadcrumbs. The recipe only calls for 2 T. breadcrumbs.
You can totally use a slice of bread soaked in milk, or ground in a blender or food processor.
But if you don't have bread, I'd do oats. If you think they are too big, grind them up a bit in food processor or blender. Or run a knife through them.

Crackers! Yes, I have crackers! No bread. I hereby give myself an 'F' in meal planning this week. I will have to try harder next week. H will probably throw me a parade the first time I can go a whole week without having to run back to the store because I forgot x or y ingredient.

throw some bread in the food processor. turn it on to pulverize it. Now put it in a DRY skillet/pan. Turn on medium to low-ish heat, and stir it frequently around in the pan. They'll toast up all pretty and smell great. Walla. Bread crumbs.
